Job description

Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a qualified full-time MRI Technologist in Somerville, NJ.

The MRI technologist works under the supervision of the MRI supervisors and the director of the Radiology Department. Responsibilities include technical, supportive, and departmental duties related to diagnostic procedures in the cardiac MRI suite and the Cardio Dynamics Department, whether cardiac or radiological in nature. The technologist should possess the knowledge and skills to operate and maintain MR equipment in the cardiac MRI suite.

The role also involves preparing patients for MRI procedures and providing care to patients across various age groups, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • One year of previous RRT experience
  • Ability to communicate clearly and courteously with colleagues and patients

Preferred:

  • ARRT Licensure with MRI Certification
  • Experience with MRI procedures
Scheduling Requirements:
  • Evening shifts, 40 hrs/week, including specific days and times, with on-call rotation
Professional and Technical Functions:
  • Perform MRI scans to produce high-quality diagnostic images
  • Operate MRI equipment and understand the physics involved
  • Develop protocols, possibly with cardiologist assistance
  • Understand cardiac anatomy and physiology to set up cardiac images
  • Evaluate image quality and minimize repeats
  • Operate supportive equipment, including MRI coils, power injectors, and physiological monitors
  • Apply EKG leads, NIBP cuff, and pulse oximeter appropriately
  • Operate MRI data analysis equipment and save images in various formats
  • Perform MRI quality assurance tests and monitor system and coil conditions
  • Prepare and care for patients, including screening, education, and intravenous access
  • Provide emergency care as needed, including CPR
  • Administer contrast injections per protocol
