Description

The MRI Technician is responsible for operating magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment to produce cross-sectional images of patients’ bodies for diagnostic purposes. This includes, but is not limited to, interviewing patients to explain MRI procedures and ensure their safety; positioning patient on exam table and set up the receivers; and entering data regarding patient history, anatomical area to be scanned, orientation specified, and position of entry into aperture of MRI equipment. A key role of the MRI Tech is to alleviate patient concerns or fears by answering questions, offering preferred music, and providing support during test, if needed.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of safety and security procedures with the ability to identify and report potentially unsafe conditions, equipment, and materials.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers in both positive and negative situations.
• Ability to respond promptly to patient needs and requests for service and assistance.
• Excellent customer service skills while maintaining a high level of confidentiality and discretion.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word), various software programs, and internet applications.

Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum Associates Degree in Radiology.
• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART) Certification.

Preferred:

• MR Advanced certification through ARRT.
