Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Hillcrest in Waco, TX, seeks a qualified MRI Technologist to perform MRI procedures under radiologist supervision. You will follow exam protocols, ensure patient safety, and maintain imaging quality.

Join a full-time weekend shift (Fri-Sun 7:00 AM-7:30 PM) with enhanced compensation, including a $10,000 sign-on bonus and a lump-sum relocation, plus standard hospital benefits. ARMRIT/ARRT MR certification is preferred.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or GED required.
  • Less than 1 year of experience.
  • Certification in ARMRIT/ARRT MR or ARRT(R) required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality MRI procedures according to exam protocols.
  • Communicate with patients using AIDET; explain tests and obtain consent.
  • Prepare patient and setup for MRI, adjust equipment and exposure factors.
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness; follow infection control and radiation policies.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies; report issues to management.

  • Facility Information: The 260-bed hospital offers advanced medical services that include trauma and acute care, orthopedics and sports medicine, a Level III neonatal intensive care unit and the most comprehensive freestanding cancer center in the region.
  • Shift/Schedule: Full - Time Weekend Friday to Sunday 7:00 AM-7:30 PM
  • Call Requirements: 1 week every 7 or 8 weeks. (Mon-Fri 8p-8a) (Sat & Sun 24-hour call)

Job Summary

The MRI Technologist, supervised by a Radiologist, performs MRI procedures on patients. These are requested by a physician or licensed provider for diagnosing disease and injury, following established protocols.

Essential Functions Of The Role
  • Performs high-quality MRI procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner. Maintains production and quality of imaging by following established standards and procedures.
  • Utilizes AIDET to communicate with patients. Identifies patient service needs, ensures the correct exam is performed on the correct patient, and establishes rapport with patients and others. Instructs and communicates with patients and their family about the test to be performed. Assess the patient's ability to tolerate the exam.
  • Prepare the patient and area for the procedure by positioning the patient, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into position, and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
  • Protects patients and employees by following safety, infection-control, drug, and radiation policies. Uses proper sterile techniques for invasive procedures and maintains hand hygiene.
  • Maintains equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards. Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal equipment operation. Reports issues to management or the appropriate department. Assists in maintaining supplies inventory.
  • Ensures people are safe to enter the department by screening them according to approved policies and procedures.
  • Obtain, verify, and maintain all relevant documentation. This includes requisition/chart, patient history, pregnancy status, shielding precautions, consent forms, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains medical imaging records in appropriate system and according to department policies and standards for interpretation in a timely manner.

  • Provide services promptly, accurately, and cost-efficiently, following System and regulatory standards, policies, and procedures.

  • Able to stay calm and helpful during stress and take reasonable steps to resolve issues.
  • Able to effectively administer first aid and use emergency cart.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by limiting wait times and providing courteous service. Remain professional, review patient satisfaction scores, and develop action plans when needed.
  • Demonstrates and maintains current knowledge, education, and skills for appropriate care of newborns, pediatric, young adults, adults, and geriatrics.
  • Able to serve as preceptor by providing quality training to new team members and on new services and initiatives.
  • Able to take call, if required.

American Reg MRI Tech (ARMRIT), ARRT-MR Magnetic Res Imaging (ARRT-MR), ARRT-R Radiography (ARRT-R): Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Magnetic Resonance Imaging ARRT(MR) or Radiography ARRT(R) or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT).
