Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - McKinney is seeking an MRI Technologist to perform MRI exams under Radiology supervision.

This full-time night shift (Sun-Wed, 7:00 PM–5:30 AM) includes on-call duties about every 6 weeks and a 10K sign-on bonus for eligible applicants.

Qualified candidates will have a HS diploma/GED, MRI experience preferred, and ARRT MR or ARMRIT certification.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or GED required.
  • MRI/CT experience at a hospital preferred (1 year or less).
  • ARMRIT or ARRT MR/Radiography certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality MRI procedures according to exam protocol.
  • Explain procedures and put patients at ease using AIDET.
  • Position patients and prepare area, adjust equipment and exposure factors.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness and report issues to management.
  • Maintain accurate imaging records and documentation.

Requirement: Min of 1 year of hospital MRI and CT experience preferred

On-Call: 5-6 shifts approx. every 6 weeks plus 1 minor and major holiday per year

Job Summary

The MRI Technologist, supervised by a Radiologist, performs MRI procedures on patients. These are requested by a physician or licensed provider for diagnosing disease and injury, following established protocols.

Essential Functions Of The Role
  • Performs high-quality MRI procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner. Maintains production and quality of imaging by following established standards and procedures.
  • Utilizes AIDET to communicate with patients. Identifies patient service needs, ensures the correct exam is performed on the correct patient, and establishes rapport with patients and others. Instructs and communicates with patients and their family about the test to be performed. Assess the patient's ability to tolerate the exam.
  • Prepare the patient and area for the procedure by positioning the patient, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into position, and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
  • Protects patients and employees by following safety, infection-control, drug, and radiation policies. Uses proper sterile techniques for invasive procedures and maintains hand hygiene.
  • Maintains equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards. Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal equipment operation. Reports issues to management or the appropriate department. Assists in maintaining supplies inventory.
  • Ensures people are safe to enter the department by screening them according to approved policies and procedures.
  • Obtain, verify, and maintain all relevant documentation. This includes requisition/chart, patient history, pregnancy status, shielding precautions, consent forms, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains medical imaging records in appropriate system and according to department policies and standards for interpretation in a timely manner.

  • Able to effectively administer first aid and use emergency cart.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by limiting wait times and providing courteous service. Remain professional, review patient satisfaction scores, and develop action plans when needed.
  • Demonstrates and maintains current knowledge, education, and skills for appropriate care of newborns, pediatric, young adults, adults, and geriatrics.
  • Able to serve as preceptor by providing quality training to new team members and on new services and initiatives.
  • Able to take call, if required.

  • CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - American Reg MRI Tech (ARMRIT), ARRT-MR Magnetic Res Imaging (ARRT-MR), ARRT-R Radiography (ARRT-R): Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Magnetic Resonance Imaging ARRT(MR) or Radiography ARRT(R) or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT).
