Job Description - MRI Tech. Mobile PRN (260004CW)

This is a PRN position to help support the west side mobile MRI trucks.

A career as a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technologist is exciting for those who are passionate about health care, patient comfort and saving lives. As a technologist, you are asked to operate MRI scanners and to ensure that the procedure produces quality images and information for the health care professional to make an accurate diagnosis. You have the chance to work and interact directly with patients as you ensure that they are comfortable and calm. Utilize your medical knowledge by interviewing patients, explaining the procedure and placing the patient in the appropriate spot on the table. Technologists are also organized, detail‑oriented people who are familiar with the anatomical area that is being scanned and the patient's history. Develop relationships with patients as you help diagnose their condition as an MRI technologist.

Performs MRI scans at the direction of physician protocol. Provides compassionate age‑specific care to patients from neonates through geriatrics.

  • Clear knowledge of modality specific equipment, computers, PACS, EMR and RIS
Additional Responsibilities
  • Uses a variety of equipment specific to the area, including MR scanners, power injectors, and various computers. Must demonstrate effective organizational, written and oral communication skills. Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills. Ability to perform procedures specific to area. Answers phones and arranges schedule for in‑patient request. Initiates and maintains positive relationships with patients/customers and coworkers

  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace
Education
  • Associate's Degree – Completion of an accredited 2‑year program in a school of Radiologic, MRI, or Nuclear Medicine Technology (Required)
  • Other Accredited Program: Completion of an accredited program in a school of Sonography with current ARDMS certificate (Required)
  • High School Equivalent / GED (Required)
Work Experience
  • MR scanning experience (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of sterile and surgical procedures (Required proficiency)
  • Knowledge of MRI equipment and safety in MRI environment (Required proficiency)
  • Knowledge of radiology information system (Required proficiency)
  • Basic knowledge of oxygen tanks, suction machine and emergency equipment (Required proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications
  • Any of the following: Registered Technologist MRI (ARRT‑MR) or Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT) or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) or Registered Technologist Radiation Therapy (ARRT‑T) or ARDMS – American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Required Upon Hire)
  • Registered Technologist MRI (ARRT‑MR) (Required within 1 Year)
  • ARMRIT – American Registry of MRI Technologists (Required Upon Hire)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required Upon Hire)
