Job summary

University Hospitals Pain Management is seeking an MRI technologist to perform MRI scans for a PRN/mobile MRI truck crew on the west side. You will deliver compassionate patient care, ensure safety, and support radiology operations under radiologist direction.

ARRT-registered technologists with strong PACS/RIS/EMR skills and a commitment to learning will thrive in this role, collaborating closely with radiology staff and maintaining high patient experience standards.

Qualifications

  • ARRT-registered or ARRT-certified required.
  • Experience with MRI safety protocols and patient positioning.
  • Strong patient-care orientation and compassionate approach.
  • Familiarity with PACS, RIS, EMR systems and imaging workflows.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with radiologists and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Performs MRI scans as directed by radiologist and, after orientation, may independently conduct scans if ARRT-registered.
  • Provides age-specific care to patients from neonates through geriatrics.
  • Ensures a safe, clean MRI environment and adherence to safety procedures.
  • Maintains knowledge of technical skills and participates in self-development.
  • Collaborates with coworkers and clinical staff to support department operations.

Overview

As an MRI tech you will perform examinations to create detailed images of the body's organs, tissues, and structures for diagnostic purposes. You will work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to assist in diagnosing and treating medical conditions while providing compassionate care and maintaining a positive patient experience.

This is a PRN position to help support the west side mobile MRI trucks.

What You Will Do
  • Displays commitment to the mission of the hospital and its values
  • Provides age-specific care to patients from neonates through geriatrics.
  • Performs MRI scans as directed by radiologist, and, once orientation and training are completed, independently conducts scans if ARRT-registered.
  • Patient care during visit to MRI
  • Knowledge of MRI equipment and safety in MRI environment
  • Assures a safe and clean environment
  • Maintains knowledge of technical skills
  • Takes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environment
  • Demonstrates successful technical/patient skills by efficiently implementing special procedure technology in the MR area
  • Uses administrative skills to contribute to the successful operation of the department
  • Collaborates effectively and in a timely manner with co-workers and clinical staff
  • Clear knowledge of modality specific equipment, computers, PACS, EMR and RIS
Additional Responsibilities
  • Uses a variety of equipment specific to the area, including MR scanners, power injectors, and various computers. Must demonstrate effective organizational, written, and oral communication skills. Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills. Ability to perform procedures specific to the area. Answers phones and arranges schedule for in-patient request Initiates and maintains positive relationships with patients/customers and coworkers
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
