Job summary

Prisma Health's Magnetic Resonance Imaging-POC department seeks an MRI technologist to perform MR scanning as directed by the Radiologist, and to communicate with physicians and staff to ensure high-quality exams.

Responsibilities include patient positioning, appropriate coil selection, comprehension of scanning protocols, timely completion of studies, safety screening, contrast administration within protocol, and cleanup and room readiness.

Qualifications

• ARRT registration in Radiology is required.
• ARRT MRI registration within one year of hire or ARMRIT acceptable is required/possible.
• ARMRIT certification accepted as alternative credential.

Responsibilities

• Performs MR scanning as directed by the Radiologist.
• Identifies patients and ensures magnet safety per history and questionnaire.
• Prepares scan room and ensures proper supplies and linen.
• Administers contrast materials per physician protocol.
• Maintains data entry and QC tasks.
• Supports staff and students as needed.

Job Summary

Performs MR scanning as directed by the Radiologist. Communicates with the physician and other work-related personnel appropriately

Essential Functions

• **** Includes shifts such as 7:00am-7:30pm and 10:00am-10:30pm**

• Performs all procedures proficiently and strives to maintain high quality. This includes proper positioning, choosing appropriate coils, and thorough knowledge of scanning protocols. Imaging studies must be completed in a timely manner, charged appropriately, and then taken to the radiologist for interpretation as soon as possible after the completion of the exam.
• Identifies patients using two patient identifiers. Communicates with patient and/or medical staff concerning MR safety questionnaire and other pertinent clinical history. Obtains completed questionnaire and proper history to ensure magnet safety for patients entering department. Communicates with appropriate medical staff any sedation needs of the patient. Informs patients and families of delays.
• Prepares scan room for procedures using approved cleaning protocols. Appropriately discards sharps and maintains appropriate level of supplies and linen in rooms.
• Properly prepares and administers contrast materials associated with MRI procedure that are within scope of practice as prescribed by a physician or in approved Radiology protocol.
• Implements emergency procedures, as needed
• Performs department and hospital related computer functions pertinent to job. Enters and records data
• Exhibits competency in performing quality control tasks associated with equipment and procedures to ensure standards are met.
• Stays abreast of organizational, affiliate and departmental changes/updates by checking email on each shift.
• Provides clinical instruction to staff technologists and students. As needed, will prepare staff schedules to ensure department is staffed properly and coordinate daily workflow.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

• This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

Minimum Requirements

• Education - Certification Program. Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technology program
• Experience - No experience required.

• Team members in this job as of 11/08/2020 are grandfathered from the minimum requirements listed above. Additionally, may be grandfathered from obtaining MRI Registration pending state and regulatory requirements.

Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses

• ARRT registered in Radiology , and ARRT MRI registered within one year of hire ; OR
• ARMRIT-American Registry of MRI certification.
