Job summary

Prisma Health is seeking an MRI Technologist for the Medical Center Of Powdersville. This role involves performing MR scans under radiologist direction, patient safety, and accurate data entry within the MCP department.

You will work in a hospital setting at Baptist Easley Hospital’s MRI unit, adhering to Prisma Health procedures and imaging protocols. ARRT certification and related registrations are required or pending within one year.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• ARRT registered in Radiology and ARRT MRI registration within one year of hire; OR ARMRIT certification.
• No experience required.

Responsibilities

• Performs MR scanning as directed by the Radiologist.
• Communication with physician and staff about MRI procedures and safety.
• Proper patient identification, safety questionnaires, and history review.
• Prepares scan room, cleans protocols, and maintains supplies.
• Administers contrast materials within scope of practice as prescribed by physician.
• Implements emergency procedures as needed.
• Records data in department computer systems.

Job Summary

Essential Functions

• All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's purpose: Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference.
• Performs all procedures proficiently and strives to maintain high quality. This includes proper positioning, choosing appropriate coils, and thorough knowledge of scanning protocols. Imaging studies must be completed in a timely manner, charged appropriately, and then taken to the radiologist for interpretation as soon as possible after the completion of the exam.
• Identifies patients using two patient identifiers. Communicates with patient and/or medical staff concerning MR safety questionnaire and other pertinent clinical history. Obtains completed questionnaire and proper history to ensure magnet safety for patients entering department. Communicates with appropriate medical staff any sedation needs of the patient. Informs patients and families of delays.
• Prepares scan room for procedures using approved cleaning protocols. Appropriately discards sharps and maintains appropriate level of supplies and linen in rooms.
• Properly prepares and administers contrast materials associated with MRI procedure that are within scope of practice as prescribed by a physician or in approved Radiology protocol.
• Implements emergency procedures, as needed
• Performs department and hospital related computer functions pertinent to job. Enters and records data
• Exhibits competency in performing quality control tasks associated with equipment and procedures to ensure standards are met.
• Stays abreast of organizational, affiliate and departmental changes/updates by checking email on each shift.
• Provides clinical instruction to staff technologists and students. As needed, will prepare staff schedules to ensure department is staffed properly and coordinate daily workflow.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

• This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

Minimum Requirements

• Education - Certification Program. Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technology program
• Experience - No experience required.

• Team members in this job as of 11/08/2020 are grandfathered from the minimum requirements listed above. Additionally, may be grandfathered from obtaining MRI Registration pending state and regulatory requirements.

• ARMRIT - American Registry of MRI certification.
