Job summary

Prisma Health in Easley, SC, is seeking an MRI Technologist to perform MR scanning under Radiologist direction. You will verify patient history and safety, prepare the room, administer contrast within protocol, and collaborate with physicians and staff to deliver high-quality imaging.

The role requires ARRT Radiology (and MRI within one year of hire) or ARMRIT certification, plus completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.

Qualifications

• Certification in Radiologic Technology is required.
• ARRT registration in Radiology or ARMRIT certification is required.
• MRI registration within one year of hire if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Performs MR scanning as directed by the Radiologist and communicates findings with the physician.
• Ensures proper patient identification, safety screening, and history to support magnet safety.
• Prepares scan room, handles contrast within protocol, and maintains clean, stocked work areas.
• Operates MRI equipment, follows protocols, and completes imaging studies in a timely manner.
• Provides guidance to staff and students; may assist with scheduling and workflow.
• Performs data entry and related hospital computer functions as required.
• Assists with quality control and stays informed about department changes.

Job Summary

Performs MR scanning as directed by the Radiologist. Communicates with the physician and other work-related personnel appropriately

Essential Functions

• All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health’s purpose: Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference.
• Performs all procedures proficiently and strives to maintain high quality. This includes proper positioning, choosing appropriate coils, and thorough knowledge of scanning protocols. Imaging studies must be completed in a timely manner, charged appropriately, and then taken to the radiologist for interpretation as soon as possible after the completion of the exam.
• Identifies patients using two patient identifiers. Communicates with patient and/or medical staff concerning MR safety questionnaire and other pertinent clinical history. Obtains completed questionnaire and proper history to ensure magnet safety for patients entering department. Communicates with appropriate medical staff any sedation needs of the patient. Informs patients and families of delays.
• Prepares scan room for procedures using approved cleaning protocols. Appropriately discards sharps and maintains appropriate level of supplies and linen in rooms.
• Properly prepares and administers contrast materials associated with MRI procedure that are within scope of practice as prescribed by a physician or in approved Radiology protocol.
• Implements emergency procedures, as needed
• Performs department and hospital related computer functions pertinent to job. Enters and records data
• Exhibits competency in performing quality control tasks associated with equipment and procedures to ensure standards are met.
• Stays abreast of organizational, affiliate and departmental changes/updates by checking email on each shift.
• Provides clinical instruction to staff technologists and students. As needed, will prepare staff schedules to ensure department is staffed properly and coordinate daily workflow.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

• This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

Minimum Requirements

• Education - Certification Program. Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technology program
• Experience - No experience required.

• Team members in this job as of 11/08/2020 are grandfathered from the minimum requirements listed above. Additionally, may be grandfathered from obtaining MRI Registration pending state and regulatory requirements.

• ARMRIT-American Registry of MRI certification.
