Job summary

Prisma Health seeks a Radiologic Technologist specialized in MRI to perform scans under radiologist direction at Parkridge/Baptist Parkridge Hospital. You will ensure patient safety, prepare the scan environment, and coordinate with staff. The role includes contrast administration and adherence to imaging protocols.

Candidates should have ARRT or ARMRIT credentials; no prior experience required. This on-site position is part of the Magnetic Resonance Imaging department with evening shifts.

Qualifications

• Education - Certification Program. Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• Experience - No experience required.
• In lieu of requirements available for grandfathered employees.
• Required Certifications: ARRT Radiology and MRI or ARMRIT certification within hire timing.

Responsibilities

• Performs MR scanning as directed by the Radiologist.
• Identifies patients and ensures MR safety; obtains history and sedation needs as needed.
• Prepares scan room, cleans and maintains supplies and linens.
• Administers contrast materials per physician or protocol.
• Implements emergency procedures as needed; performs data entry and computer tasks.
• Performs quality control tasks to ensure equipment and procedures meet standards.

Job Summary

Essential Functions

• Performs all procedures proficiently and strives to maintain high quality. This includes proper positioning, choosing appropriate coils, and thorough knowledge of scanning protocols. Imaging studies must be completed in a timely manner, charged appropriately, and then taken to the radiologist for interpretation as soon as possible after the completion of the exam.
• Identifies patients using two patient identifiers. Communicates with patient and/or medical staff concerning MR safety questionnaire and other pertinent clinical history. Obtains completed questionnaire and proper history to ensure magnet safety for patients entering department. Communicates with appropriate medical staff any sedation needs of the patient. Informs patients and families of delays.
• Prepares scan room for procedures using approved cleaning protocols. Appropriately discards sharps and maintains appropriate level of supplies and linen in rooms.
• Properly prepares and administers contrast materials associated with MRI procedure that are within scope of practice as prescribed by a physician or in approved Radiology protocol.
• Implements emergency procedures, as needed
• Performs department and hospital related computer functions pertinent to job. Enters and records data
• Exhibits competency in performing quality control tasks associated with equipment and procedures to ensure standards are met.
• Stays abreast of organizational, affiliate and departmental changes/updates by checking email on each shift.
• Provides clinical instruction to staff technologists and students. As needed, will prepare staff schedules to ensure department is staffed properly and coordinate daily workflow.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

• This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

• Education - Certification Program. Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technology program
• Experience - No experience required.

• Team members in this job as of 11/08/2020 are grandfathered from the minimum requirements listed above. Additionally, may be grandfathered from obtaining MRI Registration pending state and regulatory requirements.

Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses

• ARRT registered in Radiology, and ARRT MRI registered within one year of hire; OR ARMRIT-American Registry of MRI certification.
