Job summary

Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO is seeking a Senior MRI Technologist to support interventional and surgical MRI procedures in the operating room. Training will occur on the day shift for ~3 months before rotating to a 3-day per week schedule.

The role emphasizes advanced modality responsibilities with any lead tech duties in their absence, and a strong focus on patient safety and team mentorship.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or trade school in related field.
• 2-5 years of radiology/MRI experience.
• Certification as RT(R) and/or MR.
• ARMRIT or ARRT certification.
• Experience in MRI and/or OR environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient and equipment for procedures.
• Performs MRI studies independently, on-call situations, portable exams as required.
• Maintains regulatory information and oversees department quality assurance.
• Participates in department or hospital safety/quality process improvements and initiatives.
• Leads the team in improving patient experience and staff engagement.
• Mentors new employee and/or clinical students.

Interventional & surgical MRI procedures, providing critical imaging support across a variety of OR cases

Training for position will be on day shift at 5 days per week for about 3 months before moving to the 3 days per week rotating schedule

Requirements

• Associate degree or higher in related field
• Certification as a Registered Technologist in Radiography - R.T.(R) and/or MR

Role Purpose

Performs all responsibilities of a Advanced Modality

Technologist and assumes responsibilities of the Lead Tech in their absence.

Assists in the development and training of students and/or new employees.

Senior Advance Modality Technologist must have 3 or more responsibilities

within the following categories: hospital/department initiatives, patient experience and employee engagement, quality assurance, process improvement and mentorship.

Performs all responsibilities under the direction of lead/charge of advanced modality technologist.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient and equipment for procedures.
• Performs studies independently, in on‑call situations, portable exams, and other site as required by work area.
• Assists with regulatory compliance for the department (ACR, JC). Maintains up‑to‑date regulatory information. Oversees department quality assurance program under the direction of the Clinical Instructor or Lead/Charge.
• Participates in department or hospital safety/quality process improvements and initiatives.
• Leads the team in improving patient experience and/or improving employee engagement.
• Mentors new employee and/or clinical students under the direction of the CI.
• BJC has determined this is a safety‑sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
