Qualifications

• Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen (non-citizens may be appointed as allowed by VA policy).
• Certification: ARRT Radiography (R); advanced certification for CT/MRI/M duties as applicable.
• Education: Completion of a 24-month post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program with certificate or associate degree.
• Credentialing: Must meet credentialing standards per 42 CFR Part 75 and be certified as radiographers.
• Grandfathering: Staff employed on 12/13/19 are considered to meet requirements.

Responsibilities

• Balance the needs of patients and staff while performing complex scans and procedures.
• Gather information from medical records, significant others, and health care providers.
• Assess factors that may contraindicate a procedure.
• Knowledge of first aid, basic life support, aseptic techniques, IV methods and universal precautions.
• Knowledge of pre-, intra-, and post-procedural patient care.
