Job summary

Friendsofkerhonkson is seeking an imaging technologist to perform MRI and CT procedures for adults and pediatrics in an acute care setting. You will explain the procedures, position patients, and maintain a safe environment while adhering to protocol parameters for high-quality images.

The role requires ARRT certification in MR and CT, an Associate degree in Radiography, and BLS within 30 days. Training for additional modalities and ongoing safety leadership are included.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Radiography required.
• ARRT certification in Radiography and MR/CT credentials required within specified timelines.
• BLS certification within 30 days of employment.

Will train for other modality.OverviewJob Summary:Responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures in MRI and CT in an acute care setting to adult and/or pediatric patients for the purpose of diagnosis and/or treatment of anatomic and physiologic disorders.Job Responsibilities:Performs imaging examinations in MRI and CT; May also be trained to perform QC or invasive procedures, such as needle biopsies.May also be trained in additional modalities, such as X-ray and Dexa.Explains procedures to patients and maintains a safe and comfortable environment; Provides necessary pre- and post- procedure patient care.Completes review of patients’ chart to verify exam orders and validate reason for exam.Interview patients regarding personal history, implanted devices, contrast allergies, etc.Practices proper patient positioning and scanning protocols to achieve diagnostic quality imaging.Adjust, maintain, and operate imaging equipment by following applicable protocol parameters to acquire high-quality, diagnostic images.Administer contrast under radiologists’ supervision, when applicable.Monitor patients for adverse reactions and ensure safety throughout the procedure.Implement radiation protection techniques to minimize exposure to patients and staff, by adhering to ALARA guidelines.Implement Magnetic Resonance Safety policies and procedures set by the organization.Maintain accurate records within clinical documentation support systems; Manages imaging data in PACS and documents procedures in EMR.Follows best practice safety guidelines as established by ACR and other regulatory bodies.Work closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals.Provides clinical instructions and evaluations for students.Performs Other Responsibilities as Assigned.Minimum Qualifications:Degree: Associate degree in RadiographyExperience: 0-2 yearsSupervisor Experience: None requiredLicenses & Certifications:R.T.(R) certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).Magnetic Resonance (MR) and Computerized Tomography (CT) certifications by the ARRT; One advanced credential must be obtained within 1 year of being hired into the position; The second credential must be obtained within 2 years.BLS required within 30 days of employment.Working Conditions:Chemical SubstancesDirect Patient CareExposure to Blood/FluidHazardous MaterialsInfectious DiseasesRadiationWork ShiftWeekend Only Day/Evening Rotation (United States of America)Legal StatementThe above information on this description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees in this position.
