Job summary

LRS is seeking a MRF Sorter to support daily recycling operations by inspecting and sorting materials on the conveyor line to ensure proper separation and removal of contaminants. The role contributes to safe, efficient facility operations in a fast-paced environment.

Reports to the MRF Supervisor/Site Supervisor. No prior experience required; physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varying weather conditions. Regular safety meetings and PPE usage are part of the job.

Essential Job Duties
  • Inspect and sort materials according to size, type and condition
  • Keep work area and all surrounding areas clean

Scope Of Responsibility

The MRF Sorter supports daily recycling operations by inspecting and sorting materials on the conveyor line to ensure proper separation and removal of contaminants. This role contributes to maintaining safe, efficient, and compliant facility operations by following established procedures, keeping work areas clean, and promptly reporting safety or equipment concerns. The position does not supervise employees but plays an important role in supporting overall material processing and operational workflow within the facility.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Regularly lift and carry heavy materials, often up to 50 pounds or more.
  • Regularly required to stand for long periods of time.
  • Frequent bending, twisting, and reaching to collect garbage.
  • Exposure to various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow.
  • High noise levels from trucks and machinery.
  • Potential exposure to hazardous materials and unpleasant odors.
  • Often required to wear protective gear, such as gloves and safety glasses.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
