Job summary

Interstate Waste Services is seeking a capable MRF Operations Supervisor to direct the daily activities of a Materials Recovery Facility, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient processing of recyclables.

You will lead diverse teams, manage staffing and overtime, coordinate with maintenance and transportation, drive continuous improvement to achieve site performance goals, and this role requires strong leadership and hands-on oversight in an outdoor industrial setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in transportation, logistics, or solid waste operations.
• Associate’s degree or high school diploma plus 3 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily MRF operations including material intake, sorting, processing, and outbound shipments
• Lead continuous improvement projects to increase efficiency and productivity
• Coordinate with maintenance for schedules to ensure optimal performance
• Oversee staffing, scheduling, overtime, coaching and performance evaluation
• Ensure safety and regulatory compliance (OSHA) across the site
• Manage relations with transportation, labor, and other functional groups
• Adapt to changing shift schedules including overnight and weekend shifts
• Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
• Foster a positive, safety-focused work environment
