Casella Waste Systems, Inc. is seeking an Equipment Operator at our Holyoke MRF facility. The role focuses on safe, efficient operation of equipment to transfer, sort, and bale recycled materials.

You will operate forklifts, skid steers, and recycling balers, with a MA hoisting license required. This on-site position offers a competitive hourly rate and opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and legally eligible to work in the US.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and as part of a team.
• Demonstrated safety awareness and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent listening, communication, and trouble-shooting abilities.
• Relevant certifications and heavy equipment experience are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate multiple equipment types (forklifts, skid steers, balers, payloaders/excavators) safely and efficiently.
• Perform pre/post operation inspections and address safety equipment and device integrity.
• Monitor materials for hazardous waste and ensure quality control in recycling streams.
• Maintain equipment and assist with routine facility upkeep to minimize downtime.
• Provide technicians with detailed information on mechanical issues for timely repairs.
• Engage in training to expand knowledge of Casella's products, services, and values.
