Job summary

General Atomics Systems Integration, LLC (GA-SI) is seeking a MQ-9A support engineer at MCAS Cherry Point in North Carolina. You will provide on-site expertise, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with GA-ASI and NAVAIR/USMC MQ-9A teams.

The role requires a strong engineering background, MQ-9A system experience, and the ability to travel with DoD clearance. Salary range provided; full-time employment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution, with progressive engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory, with broad application.
• Excellent communication, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and in a team.
• Must have MQ-9A system and subsystem experience.
• Ability to travel as required and obtain/maintain DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site expertise in identifying issues, troubleshooting steps, and resolving questions beyond standard maintenance.
• Develop and maintain relationships with MQ-9A Engineering teams and NAVAIR/USMC MQ-9A personnel.
• Interact on technical matters with MQ-9A fleet personnel, NAVAIR engineers, and GA-ASI Engineering disciplines.
• Direct activities of design or technical staff and lead a team of staff.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Observe laws and regulations; work safely according to procedures.

We have an exciting opportunity for an MQ-9A support engineer at MCAS Cherry Point in North Carolina.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide on-site expertise in identifying issues, troubleshooting steps, and resolving questions beyond standard maintenance procedures and documentation available to the fleet.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with the GA-ASI MQ-9A Engineering team in Poway, CA and with NAVAIR/USMC MQ-9A personnel at MCAS.
• Interact on technical matters with MQ-9A fleet personnel, NAVAIR engineers, and the GA-ASI Engineering disciplines in Poway, CA on a daily basis. Technical matters include MQ‑9 airframe, propulsion, electrical system, software, data links, and ground control segment.
• Assume technical and engineering responsibility for the success of identifiable projects.
• Direct activities of design or technical staff and may lead a team of moderately experienced professional staff.
• Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Observe all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the company.
• Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution, and progressive engineering experience: nine or more years with a bachelor’s, seven or more years with a master’s, or four or more years with a PhD. Equivalent engineering experience may substitute for education.
• Strong understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory, with experience applying these concepts broadly and a growing knowledge of related technical fields.
• Excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; self‑starter who proactively identifies and coordinates resolution of technical issues.
• Must have MQ-9A system and subsystem experience.
• Ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
