Marathon Petroleum Corporation in Burley, Idaho invites applications for an Operations Technician – Trainee. The role is based at the Burley facility and involves working around petroleum products facilities, supporting Operations & Logistics, Damage Prevention, Right of Way relations, and Terminal Rack duties.

The successful candidate will monitor pipeline movements, assist with product sampling, tank switches, and regulatory compliance, and live within 45 minutes of Burley.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s degree in a technical field preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Proficiency in basic computer skills expected.
• Previous pipeline experience with emphasis on electrical/mechanical is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitating and monitoring pipeline movements.
• Conducting product sampling.
• Tank switches and cuts.
• Assure accordance with regulations in support of DOT.
• Assist carriers or drivers at the loading rack.
• Maintain VRU/VCU equipment.
• Ensure Environmental, Safety and Regulatory compliance.
• Perform routine station checks.
• Respond to and resolve station alarms.
• Communicate findings to appropriate parties.
• Respond to right of way conflicts.
• Generate computerized work requests for maintenance tasks.
• Coordinate and communicate maintenance activities.
• Complete all required training.
• Perform work in a safe and environmentally conscious manner.

Overview

Marathon Petroleum Operations Technician – Burley, ID

The Operations Technician Trainee position is located at Marathon’s Burley, ID facility. This position works in and around petroleum products facilities executing Operations & Logistics, Damage Prevention, Right of Way Relations activities, and Terminal Rack duties.

The successful candidate will perform such duties as: facilitating and monitoring pipeline movements and conducting product sampling; tank switches and cuts; assure accordance with all regulations in support of DOT, assisting carriers or drivers at the loading rack, maintaining VRU/VCU equipment, Environmental, Safety and Regulatory compliance.

Travel, callouts, and overtime will be required on an as‑needed basis. The successful candidate is required to live within 45 minutes of the reporting location (Burley, ID).
