What We Live By……
The McWane Way is a core philosophy outlined by the founder J.R. McWane in 1920. Today it encompasses Teamwork, Excellence, Leadership, Environment, Communication, Accountability, Safety, and Trust. All team members at every level are expected to know and work by these principles, values, and behaviors. Most importantly, every team member is expected to be able to answer this question, “What does this mean for me?” This is the all-important question because behavior is the best evidence of a living principle. Join the McWane team on the journey to The McWane Way.
McWane Inc. has a newly created division, McWane Plant and Industrial (MPI). This new division, based in Birmingham, AL, combines all Plant and Industrial Products in a single customer-focused package. We offer comprehensive solutions through an experienced team of professionals specifically focused on these two special markets. Our Mission is to be the Plant and Industrial supplier who is “easiest to do business with.” We will make it easier to engineer, specify, and order components for plants. We will provide greater support for smoother delivery, cost-effective installation, and start-up. Most importantly, we will build strong relationships with design engineers, contractors, plant operations teams, and project owners to assure we are their first-choice supplier for both new construction and future upgrades.
At MPI, you will be part of a fast-paced, collaborative, start-up where you can see, firsthand, how your work translates into positive results.
Position Summary
The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for the attainment of overall sales objectives for the McWane Plant & Industrial product portfolio within the given territory. The incumbent will need to make connections with internal and external stakeholders, motivating and inspiring them to achieve the expected growth goals for the territory and overall business. The work involves driving towards results by obtaining the commitment and buy-in of others. While the job requires strong initiative and self-direction, results are only achieved through people. Knowledge and skill in how to successfully influence and persuade others by understanding how their individual needs and motivations link to goals is essential.
This position requires a high degree of “selling“, whether ideas and policies within the organization or products or services in the marketplace. The job environment is fast-paced and results-oriented. While there is an urgency to goal achievement, responsibility for achieving results needs to be shared and effectively delegated when necessary. Initiating projects and processes beyond established organizational practices will often require training and developing others, and enlisting their support by using a “selling” rather than “telling” communication style. A self-confident, extroverted style that can enliven, engage and positively impact individuals and groups is essential.
The role has a variety of tasks and is dynamic and changing. Because goals and desired results can quickly change, the job requires regularly meeting and proactively establishing relationships with new groups. The ability to understand, quickly react, and motivate others to adapt to the changing organizational environment is critical to success. In general, the core of this position requires a motivated and motivating team builder and organization developer.
