Estimator, McWane Plant & Industrial

Location: Birmingham, AL

Position Purpose

The focus of this job is producing high quality, detailed work based on established standards, guidelines and procedures. In this position you will review incoming plans, drawings and specifications to identify opportunities/projects while producing precise, accurate quotations for MPI.

Position Summary

• Oversees specification reviews for incoming plans.
• Measures, tracks quotations for general contract review.
• Provides and communicates estimations and modifications across McWane divisions and facilities to meet customer and deadline demands.
• Reviews drawings to provide a comprehensive product opportunity in the form of a takeoff.

Essential Functions

• Ability to read drawings and blueprints, develop a takeoff of products in estimations to produce a quote.
• Specification review and interpretation to provide accurate quote.
• Takeoff of available products.
• Creation of quote.
• Communication with Regional Sales Managers and representatives to produce quotation.
• Communicates with 3rd party vendors to get actuation costs for producing valve quotes where required.
• Communicates with painting vendors on special paints or with accessory vendors.
• Maintains a steady, even pace to promote accuracy and quality of work.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Associate’s degree, preferably in business, engineering, estimation or equivalent industry experience.
• Project management experience and project management software skills.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and handle multiple projects with attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Experienced with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software tools.
• Detail oriented, adept at reading documents and engineering drawings and specifications.
• Valid driver’s license with no major violations.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Mechanical aptitude or engineering background.
• Must be a team player.

Desired Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in business or engineering or equivalent industry experience.
• Previous estimating experience in wastewater industry.
• Experience with legal contracts and interface with legal teams.
• Familiarity with CRM software tools to manage, track and measure quotation activities.
