Job description

Type: Independent Contractor

Title: School Bus Driver

Reports To: Transportation Coordinator

Hours: Varies (part-time)/ non-exempt

Hourly Wage: $20.00 per hour

Job Description:

This position is responsible for driving school-owned or rented vehicles for the school.

Requirements:
  • Valid Georgia Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger and air brake endorsements required.
  • School Bus endorsements are a plus.
  • Must pass a background check including motor vehicle background check and drug test.
  • Physical ability to lift, bend, and sit for prolonged periods; upper body mobility and ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
Essential Duties:
  • Show support and high esteem for MPCS.
  • Model Christian behavior at all times.
  • Minister to students compassionately and sincerely to support their faith growth.
  • Accept the work of MPCS as a personal calling and ministry.
  • Maintain prompt and regular attendance.
  • Maintain contact with Transportation Coordinator in case of absence.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus.
  • Fuel the assigned bus as needed.
  • Assist in delivering and picking up the bus at the mechanic.
  • Submit all reports and timesheets timely.
  • Operate the school bus in accordance with Georgia laws.
  • Drive in all weather conditions safely.
  • Operate the bus without traffic violations or preventable accidents.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the bus for safety and comfort.
  • Report delays, accidents, and unusual situations.
  • Maintain cordial relations with parents, staff, and the public.
  • Manage student discipline and refer serious infractions.
  • Present a professional appearance.
  • Ability to drive any make and model bus in the fleet.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
