Modjeski and Masters in Fort Lauderdale, FL seeks an Experienced Mechanical Engineer with a valid Florida PE to join the Movable Bridge Unit. You will work on complex projects combining mechanical systems with structural ingenuity to ensure safe operation of critical transportation assets.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited college.
• 5–14 years mechanical engineering experience.
• Registered Professional Engineer, preferably in Florida.
• Familiarity with movable bridge machinery per AASHTO/AREMA standards.
• Strong attention to detail with communication, writing and presentation skills.
• Self-motivated, organized and able to handle multiple projects.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% for field assignments.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design and analysis of movable bridges.
• Develop calculations, contract plans, specs and estimates for movable bridge machinery (may include hydraulics).
• Perform field inspection and reporting of movable bridge machinery.
• Review and check mechanical design plans, estimates and drawings.
• Lead mechanical design and detailing with limited guidance from PMs and senior engineers.
• Coordinate tasks with project managers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Perform 2D/3D CADD work; guide CAD technicians and juniors; familiarity with Inventor, AutoCAD and MicroStation preferred.
• Assist in pursuing new work and networking with DOT/stakeholders and other firms.
