Job summary

Preventive Medicine in South San Francisco is seeking an experienced contract specialist to support murine assisted reproductive technology workflows, including mouse IVF and embryo handling. The contractor will perform embryo transfer procedures and coordinate with the research team.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with murine embryo transfer and is comfortable working on-site to ensure animal welfare and study integrity under IACUC/AAALAC standards.

Qualifications

• Hands-on murine embryo transfer experience across 2-, 4-, or 8-cell stages.
• Background in mouse IVF and embryo handling with embryo transfer.
• Experience with murine microsurgery and reproductive tech workflows.
• DVM/VMD, PhD, MS, LATG, RLATG, ACLAM training, or equivalent.
• Experience training staff on murine reproductive technology workflows.
• Familiarity with IACUC protocols and humane endpoints.
• On-site work availability; embryo timing coordination.

Responsibilities

• Perform murine embryo transfers into recipient sites (oviduct for cleavage-stage, uterus for blastocysts).
• Handle, assess, and prepare mouse embryos for transfer in coordination with the research team.
• Support work with pseudopregnant recipients, donor/recipient scheduling, and procedure planning.
• Maintain aseptic technique, surgical documentation, and post-op care.
• Collaborating with veterinary, animal care, and research staff to ensure welfare and study integrity.
• Advising on workflow, timing, equipment, documentation, and expected success metrics.
