Job summary

Crystal Mountain Resort in Washington is seeking a skilled Vehicle Mechanic II to inspect and maintain buses, snow-removal machines, and other company equipment with limited supervision. You will diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, perform preventive maintenance, and support safety inspections in a high-alpine workplace that values teamwork and customer service.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 18.
• Valid Driver's License.
• CDL Class B with air brake endorsement preferred.
• Ability to Ski/Snowboard preferred, but not required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of automobile, diesel, or equipment maintenance experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated ability to independently diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical problems.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and engine defects in buses and other automotive and heavy equipment, including diesel engines.
• Perform diagnostic troubleshooting and repair of engine codes under the OBD-II system.
• Perform intermediate-level troubleshooting of electrical, hydraulic, braking, fuel, cooling, and drivetrain systems.
• Prep vehicles and equipment for service, including cleaning and washing vehicles and equipment.
• Ensure proper operation of engines, tools, and equipment by inspecting for worn or defective parts and completing preventive maintenance according to manufacturers' maintenance manuals.
• Perform preventive maintenance and regular safety inspections on vehicles and equipment, including snow removal machines, heavy equipment, buses, trucks, vans, snowmobiles, and other company vehicles.
• Change oil and filters, install antifreeze and snow chains, repair tires, adjust and repair brakes, lubricate chassis and wheel bearings, and service other assemblies as required.
• Diagnose and repair moderate mechanical and hydraulic system issues with limited supervision.
• Assist with more complex repairs and major component replacement, including engines, transmissions, differentials, hydraulic components, and electrical systems.
• Locate sources of problems by observing, listening to, testing, and checking mechanical devices in operation. Remove defective parts by dismantling equipment, examining components, diagnosing the cause of failure, and correcting the condition.
• Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventory by checking stock levels, identifying needed parts and supplies, and communicating inventory needs.
• Mend and repair damaged body parts and components as required.
• Maintain accurate logs, work orders, and worksheets documenting inspections, maintenance, repairs, parts used, and other work performed.
• Perform basic metal fabrication, cutting, grinding, and welding as required.
• May operate a variety of light and heavy equipment and power tools while adhering to all safety regulations and company policies.
• Assist with minor snow removal around the shop and from vehicles and equipment.
• May assist with training or providing technical guidance to Mechanic I employees.
