New York City Department of Transportation is seeking a Community Coordinator to support the Division of Budget, Capital Program Management in coordinating MOUs and related agreements with DOT divisions and partner agencies.
The role involves gathering project information, drafting language, organizing interagency meetings, and maintaining a clear inventory of commitments while ensuring timely progress on capital projects such as ADA upgrades and interagency rail initiatives.
The New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) works to improve the safety, accessibility, and reliability of the City's transportation network and maintain the infrastructure that supports New Yorkers every day.
The Division of Budget, Capital Program Management seeks a detail-oriented planner to coordinate the development, review, execution, and implementation of memoranda of understanding (MOUs) and related agreements supporting DOT's capital program and interagency initiatives. More specifically, the agreements the planner will be working to develop and execute will primarily be between DOT and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) in which proposed MTA facilities impact the public right-of-way. These projects and initiatives could include, but are not limited to, the MTA Fast Forward Plan for station accessibility through ADA upgrades (e.g., installation of elevators); the development of the Interborough Express (IBX) light rail line and associated stations throughout Brooklyn and Queens; and various efforts to address flooding of the subway system.
Under the direction of division leadership, the selected candidate will work closely with DOT's planning, engineering, operations, budget, and legal teams, as well as partner agencies, to establish clear responsibilities for project delivery, funding, asset ownership, operations, and maintenance. The candidate will help move agreements from initial discussion through execution, identify and resolve outstanding issues, and track commitments necessary to advance projects. This position will initially be part of BCPM helping craft the agreements and framework, but later transition to the Franchises team to work directly on MTA projects.
