Job summary

GM Motorsports is seeking a Tire Intelligence Scientist to transform tire, vehicle, testing, simulation, and race data into actionable engineering insights. You will build reliable data workflows and partner with Tire Science, data engineering, data science, vehicle dynamics, and performance teams to improve tire design decisions and race execution.

The role emphasizes scalable analytics, time-series modeling, dashboards, and reproducible workflows to support trackside and race-day decisions,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, CS, or engineering.
• 5+ years applying data science, analytics, or ML to physical systems.
• Experience building analytical models in Python with modern libraries.
• Experience with multi-source engineering datasets and end-to-end pipelines.
• Strong communication to explain findings to engineers and non-data audiences.
• Demonstrated technical leadership in project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain data workflows ingesting tire data from multiple sources.
• Combine structured and unstructured data into analysis-ready datasets.
• Develop AI/ML models to predict tire behavior.
• Apply time-series analysis and uncertainty quantification.
• Deliver dashboards, notebooks, and decision-support tools.
• Lead scoping and planning for analytics projects.
• Mentor engineers and analysts in data-driven problem solving.
