Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking a semi-skilled technician to perform winding, inspection, repair and assembly work on motors and related equipment at the Central Machine Shop and other temporary sites. The role supports skilled winders and assists with reassembly and QC data gathering.

The position emphasizes safety, reliability and teamwork, with opportunities to learn additional shop skills and to contribute to customer-focused energy solutions.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrates ability to perform duties safely and follow shop processes.

Responsibilities

• Operate motor shop tools to perform winding, cleaning, painting and prep tasks.
• Tapes jumper and series connections on motor stators and field frames.
• Disassemble/assemble DC motors and AC motors within specified ranges.
• Maintain and repair generator components and related shop equipment.
• Assist customers and other workers, and learn new skills as needed.
• Follow safety rules and document work as directed.
