The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking applicants for positions within the Motor Transportation Unit Services at the Wilkes-Barre VAMC. Candidates will operate various motor vehicles to transport cargo and passengers while ensuring safe operations in different environments. This role requires good physical condition and a clear demonstration of experience or training related to motor vehicle operations.
The Wilkes-Barre VAMC positions are within the Motor Transportation Unit Services. The incumbent(s) will operate gasoline, diesel, or electronic powered wheeled vehicles to haul cargo and fuel, transport vehicles carrying up to 8 or more passengers to and from VAMC and other healthcare facilities and homes, tow or recover equipment. The vehicles are driven in restricted traffic environments on Government installations, public roads and highways, or under cross-country conditions.

Experience: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must demonstrate training or experience of sufficient scope and quality to perform the duties of this position. Evidence must be detailed on your resume. Applicants will be rated according to the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.
Screen-out Element: Your qualifications will be evaluated against the prescribed screen-out element, which appears as question 1 in the online questionnaire. Those with at least the minimal acceptable qualification are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible. The remaining applicants are rated against the following job elements:
Experience includes paid, unpaid, and volunteer work through programs like Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, or other organizations. Volunteer work helps build skills and provides valuable training. All qualifying experience, including volunteer work, will be credited.
Note: A full year of work is considered 35-40 hours per week. Part-time experience is credited proportionally. Applicants must clearly indicate duties, responsibilities, and hours worked per week.
Must possess good physical condition to perform duties efficiently and safely.
