Motor Vehicle Mechanic - Niagara ARB - Niagara Falls, NY SUMMARY: Repairs, rebuilds, or performs major assemblies of internal combustion automobiles, buses, trucks, or material handling equipment and hydraulic systems. Responsibilities include diagnosing issues, replacing worn or broken parts, grinding and adjusting valves, rebuilding carburetors, overhauling transmissions, and repairing fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems. The role requires comprehensive training and experience, typically acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent. REQUIREMENTS: - Minimum of three (3) years of experience in diesel mechanics and related vehicle systems (air conditioning, electrical, brakes) - ASE Certification - Experience in refueling pumping systems maintenance and fire truck pumping systems maintenance - Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) - Ability to work weekends on a rotating schedule - Experience with diagnostic equipment (scan tools, etc.) - Experience with tire removal/installation and balancing equipment - Must provide own general mechanic tool set DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: - CDL with Wrecker Endorsement ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Diagnose problems and determine repair scope - Replace engine components such as piston rings and bearings - Grind and adjust valves, rebuild carburetors, overhaul transmissions, and repair fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems - Maintain tools and clean work areas - Perform other duties as required EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: - High School Diploma or GED - At least three (3) years of vehicle maintenance experience - ASE Certification - Valid New York CDL A or B Driver's License - Ability to maintain military gate pass access CRITICAL FACTORS FOR SUCCESS: - Knowledge of combustion engine operations and maintenance - Knowledge of automotive hand tools and safety procedures - Skills in operation of hand and power tools - Ability to prioritize and organize work - Good interpersonal and communication skills COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Must respond effectively to inquiries from customers, managers, and staff. Capable of writing reports and presenting information clearly. REASONING ABILITY: Able to interpret information to follow procedures. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Frequent standing, walking, sitting, handling, reaching, talking, and hearing. Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting over 75 pounds. Requires good vision. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Requires on-call rotation. Exposure to noise, dirt, dust, grease, machinery, chemicals, and weather conditions. Use of protective equipment may be necessary.
