Job description

Join to apply for the MOTOR EQUIPMENT OPERATOR II (Multiple Opportunities) role at Palm Beach County.

Depending on assignment, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of vehicles and various pieces of heavy equipment, including skid steer loaders, tractors, landscape maintenance equipment, and large trucks over 26,001 pounds GVWR. Duties may include:

  1. Grounds maintenance
  2. Operating small gas-powered equipment
  3. Performing landscape maintenance and manual duties
  4. Transporting equipment and materials via truck and trailer
  5. Equipment maintenance
  6. Supporting daily park operations
  7. Providing customer service within maintenance functions

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of six (6) months experience operating large mobile or construction equipment
  • Preferred experience with tractors (box blade, mower attachments), front-end loaders, skid loaders, tandem axle dump trucks, and landscape/nursery operations
  • Desirable: Florida Green Industries BMP Certification; valid FL Class A/B CDL with Air Brakes and Tanker endorsement

Additional requirements:

  • Safety-sensitive position subject to random drug testing
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Valid Florida Driver's License and prior driving history approval
  • Must obtain FL Class B CDL permit with Air Brakes Endorsement within 90 days of hire and FL Class B CDL within 180 days
  • Hearing Loss Test required for selected candidate
