Typical Work Activities
  1. Operates motor equipment such as road patchers, trucks, sweepers, and auxiliary tools.
  2. Supervises small crews for street repairs, sewer work, and related projects.
  3. Performs minor repairs and routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
  4. Monitors sewer mains using television camera equipment and reports conditions.
  5. Maintains records of work, supplies, and equipment used.
  6. Participates in street maintenance activities.
  7. Provides transportation services for government operations, such as food delivery for schools.
  8. Operates recreational and maintenance equipment for the recreation department.
  9. Performs routine cleaning, maintenance, and sampling at the sewage plant.
  10. Supervises small work crews.
  11. Requires mechanical aptitude, dependability, and computer skills.
  12. Physical condition suitable for the demands of the position.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
  • Possession of a CDL-B motor vehicle operator license issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles, maintained throughout employment.
  • City residency required at the time of appointment; waivers may be requested if no qualified residents are available.
  • Pre-employment drug test required.
