You will design motor controller boards, integrate encoders and feedback, and bring up FOC with production collaboration to deliver quiet, efficient actuation for consumer homes. The role requires 3+ years in motor drive hardware, PCB design in Altium, and proficiency with EtherCAT/CAN/SPI/I2C, plus embedded firmware in C or Rust.

Qualifications

• 3+ years designing motor drive or power electronics hardware: inverters, servo drives, robot actuators, e-mobility, or similar products.
• Hands-on FOC: implemented or tuned field-oriented control on real hardware: current loops, SVPWM, sensor calibration.
• PCB design: multilayer boards in Altium, schematic capture through layout and bring-up.
• Communication protocols: EtherCAT, CAN/CAN FD, SPI, I2C, and other embedded serial buses.
• Firmware bring-up and debug: embedded C or Rust to tune loops and debug behavior.
• Hands-on debugging: oscilloscopes, current probes, electronic loads.

Responsibilities

• Design motor controller boards: gate drive, power stage, current sensing, MCU, and protection circuitry from schematic through layout, bring-up, validation, and production.
• Own the feedback inputs: encoders, halls, phase voltage sensing, thermistors, signal conditioning and noise immunity near the switching stage.
• Bring up and tune FOC: commutate new motor/board combinations, tune current loops, calibrate encoder offsets, identify motor parameters, and verify torque accuracy on the dyno.
• Design for quiet and efficiency: switching behavior, PWM strategy, thermal design, EMI/EMC for a consumer product near people.
• Support production: drive DFM/DFT, panelization, test point and programming strategy, end-of-line test coverage, and per-unit calibration routines.
