SALARY

$23.507 - $35.471

POSITION SUMMARY

Obtains a list of rail cars by number to be cleaned from the foreman and prepares rail cars for the motor cleaning process.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Prepares rail car for cleaning by removing covers and opening prescribed motor and compartment doors.
2. Operates controls on the dust recovery system which cleans the rail car motor.
3. Cleans work area at the end of the shift.
4. Cleans various other shop areas, empties and removes trash.
5. Performs the duties of car servicer upon request.
6. Performs related duties as assigned.
7. Monitors and reports any suspicious person, item, etc.
8. Guides passengers to secure areas.
9. Directs emergency personnel to problem areas.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Properly identify and report any suspicious person, package, or item.
• Assist with passenger safety during emergency situations.
• Guide emergency personnel to problem areas.
• Assist in restoring normal operations.
• Know the prescribed maintenance section motor cleaning procedures.
• Perform physical activities associated with this position and pass a physical examination.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Stand, walk, lift up to 100 lbs, climb stairs and ladders, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, handle tools and equipment, communicate effectively, hear alarms and announcements, and see clearly to perform job duties.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of safety equipment for self-protection.
• Effective communication skills in oral and written form.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Maintenance shop environment with exposure to cold, heat, humidity, noise, electrical hazards, chemical hazards, heights, fumes, odors, dust, and wet conditions.
