Job summary

The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) is seeking a Training Program Coordinator to lead and coordinate training and professional development for Human Services staff and community partners. You will design, develop, deliver, and evaluate instructor-led training while maintaining a positive learning environment and staying current with VDSS policy and MI innovations.

Qualifications

• Direct experience using Motivational Interviewing as a primary intervention framework.
• Deep understanding of MI principles and the four processes: Engaging, Focusing, Evoking, Planning.
• Experience designing and facilitating professional, interactive training for adult learners.
• Coaching methods, reflective practice, and transferring MI to front-line interactions.
• Knowledge of state and federal social services laws and mandates.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and virtual delivery platforms; LMS experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate training and professional development for Human Services staff and partners.
• Design, develop, deliver, and evaluate instructor-led training with a focus on MI.
• Provide coaching to staff and supervisors to translate MI concepts into daily practice.
• Evaluate training effectiveness and collaborate with curriculum developers on improvements.
