Job summary

New Jersey Institute of Technology conducts a Motion Capture Coordinator role within the Hillier College of Architecture and Design. The position supports the SAI project by recruiting participants, preparing the motion capture studio, and collecting data using Vicon and MotionBuilder.

You will collaborate with Rutgers University and contribute to data collection protocols while gaining experience in research methodology and project management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., HCI, Psychology, Human Factors, CS).
• Strong interest in human movement, HCI, and accessibility research.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Experience with motion capture technology and software (e.g., Vicon, MotionBuilder) is a plus.
• Familiarity with data analysis software (e.g., MATLAB, Python) is desirable.
• Commitment to ethical research practices.
• Education/experience may be exempted with equivalent preparation per university discretion.

Responsibilities

• Assist with recruitment and screening of participants for motion capture sessions.
• Manage participant scheduling and communication.
• Support motion capture studio setup and equipment; guide participants.
• Accurately capture motion data using specialized software and equipment.
• Organize and label motion capture data; storage management.
• Assist with data preprocessing and basic analysis.
• Collaborate with the research team on data collection protocols.
• Participate in team meetings and project discussions.
