Beacon Health System is hiring a part-time Day Shift Unit Assistant for the Mother Baby Unit at Beacon Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN. Be a Beacon. Make a Difference.

Support the unit under the direction of aRegistered Nurse, performing a range of clerical and patient-care tasks designed to ensure efficient operations and high-quality patient care. Strong communication and teamwork are essential, along with a compassionate, patient-centered approach.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 17 years old.
• Must obtain Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS/CPR) within 3 months of hire and maintain certification.

Responsabilités

• Greets visitors, patients, physicians, and staff in a professional, courteous, and welcoming manner.
• Answers telephones promptly, relays messages accurately, and communicates information in a timely and respectful way.
• Prepares and maintains patient charts for admissions, transfers, discharges, and surgical procedures.
• Transcribes and enters physician orders, clinical data, charges, and patient status updates accurately into the computer system.
• Monitors printers and fax machines for medical record information and ensures appropriate follow-up and distribution.
• Assists with patient admissions and discharges, including room setup and orientation.
• Provides basic patient care such as bathing, oral hygiene, bed-making, room organization, and ongoing comfort measures.
• Assists patients with mobility needs including turning, positioning, transferring, ambulating, and ROM exercises.

Formation

High school diploma or equivalent
