Job summary

Holy Cross Health in Silver Spring, MD seeks a Mother Baby Nurse for our 65-bed unit, delivering skilled postpartum and neonatal care in private recovery rooms.

This full-time night-shift role emphasizes lactation support, patient education, and collaboration with physicians to manage high-risk situations; requires ASN/BSN, RN license, BLS, and relevant certifications.

Pay rate $40.09 - $57.19 per hour; comprehensive benefits and flexible schedules.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ASN); basic professional nursing degree (BSN or MSN) preferred
• Current licensure by the Maryland Board of Nursing or Compact state as an Registered Nurse
• BLS certification (NRP completed within 6 months of hire)
• Professional specialty certifications may be required in accordance with departmental standards

Responsibilities

• Use critical thinking and prioritization to adjust to postpartum and neonatal statuses per AWHONN and hospital standards
• Interface directly with Physicians for patient advocacy
• Assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate response to high risk maternal and neonatal complications
• Perform all newborn screening tests and standard lab work
• Provide hands-on Lactation support at the bedside
• Patient teachings on basic/high risk newborn and postpartum care
• Maintain infection control techniques for the mother-baby dyad
