The SR400 Express Lanes Project is a transformative $4.6 billion infrastructure initiative led by SR400 Constructors, a 50/50 joint venture between Ferrovial Dragados and ACCIONA. Commissioned by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and Georgia State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA), the project will add two 16‑mile express lanes from Sandy Springs MARTA Station (Exit 5) to McFarland (Exit 12), enhancing mobility along one of Georgia’s busiest corridors. With a peak workforce of over 500, the project also includes dedicated bus rapid transit stations and significant improvements to the corridor. Construction began in late 2022, with substantial completion anticipated in 2031.

The Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) Superintendent serves as a key field leader responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) operations on a major transportation infrastructure project. In close collaboration with the MOT Manager, construction teams, subcontractors, and state agencies, this role ensures that all traffic control installations are safe, compliant with MUTCD and GDOT requirements, and delivered efficiently to support uninterrupted project progress. The MOT Superintendent directs field crews, oversees daily traffic control activities, and ensures all lane closures, detours, and traffic shifts are implemented in accordance with approved Traffic Control Plans (TCPs).

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise MOT field crews in the installation, maintenance, and removal of traffic control devices, including signs, barrels, barricades, message boards, and temporary barriers.
  • Execute approved Traffic Control Plans (TCPs) and verify that all field setups meet plan specifications and GDOT standards.
  • Coordinate daily lane closures, rolling closures, detours, and traffic shifts with construction teams and the MOT Manager.
  • Perform daily field inspections to confirm proper device placement, visibility, and functionality.
  • Respond promptly to emergency traffic control needs, incidents, and real‑time plan adjustments.
  • Ensure all MOT activities comply with MUTCD, GDOT, OSHA, and project‑specific safety requirements.
  • Identify and correct unsafe conditions, improper setups, or non‑compliant traffic control installations.
  • Maintain high standards of work‑zone safety and housekeeping across all active traffic control areas.
  • Support internal and external audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
  • Train field personnel on proper MOT procedures, safety practices, and equipment operation.
  • Collaborate with the MOT Manager, Construction Superintendents, and subcontractors to plan upcoming traffic control needs.
  • Coordinate with GDOT, local agencies, law enforcement, and emergency responders for closures, detours, and special operations.
  • Communicate daily MOT activities, issues, and changes to project leadership.
  • Participate in daily huddles, weekly coordination meetings, and look‑ahead planning sessions.
  • Review TCPs, Traffic Implementation Requests (TIRs), and lane closure requests for constructability and field feasibility.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs of MOT activities, crew hours, equipment usage, and field adjustments.
  • Contribute to weekly and monthly MOT reporting, including field conditions and operational challenges.
  • Oversee inventory, condition, and deployment of all MOT equipment and devices.
  • Ensure message boards, arrow boards, and other electronic devices are properly programmed and fully operational.
  • Coordinate maintenance, repair, and replacement of traffic control devices.
  • Manage subcontractor performance related to MOT field operations.
