Ohio State University seeks a Mosquito Laboratory and Field Technician to support urban mosquito management, pollinator conservation, and West Nile virus research. The role involves field data collection, lab work with mosquitoes, and assisting with publications and outreach materials.

The Research Technician will assist with ongoing activities in the Gardiner and Meuti labs related to urban mosquito management, pollinator conservation and the role of mosquitoes in seasonal cycles of West Nile virus transmission. This individual will assist with the collection of data in the field; work with graduate and undergraduate students; process samples and identify mosquitoes to genus and/or species morphologically and with PCR assays; test mosquitoes for the presence of West Nile virus; dissect egg follicles to determine when mosquitoes enter and exit diapause; assist with maintaining mosquito colonies in the laboratory; as well as enter and analyze data. The technician may also assist with writing publications, fact sheets and outreach materials. Other work may include ordering and organizing laboratory supplies, and assisting with lab safety and management.
This job profile is a Research Technician 1 (T1 level) on the career roadmap. This position is temporary employment that is one year or less assignment. The offer for this position will fall within the positions pay range based on internal equity, unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications.
