Job summary

NVR, Inc is seeking a Mortgage Underwriting Manager to coach, train, and direct the workflow for the Underwriting Department in Reston, VA. This leadership role manages a team of Underwriters and Supervisors, guiding daily loan processing and ensuring adherence to underwriting programs.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years in mortgage underwriting and 3+ years in leadership, with FHA DE and/or VA underwriting authority. Bachelor’s degree preferred; travel may be required.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of mortgage underwriting experience.
• At least 3 years of mortgage underwriting leadership experience.
• Obtained FHA DE (Direct Endorsed) Underwriting and/or VA credit underwriting / VA LAPP authority.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Acts as direct manager for Underwriters and Underwriting Supervisors within the department.
• Assists with daily tasks and questions concerning specific loan applications and loan programs.
• Performs employee reviews and sets goals and performance objectives for direct reports.
• Provides training and resources to support and develop staff as needed.
• Coaches and develops Supervisors for future growth.
• Makes suggestions to the sales team on loan structuring to satisfy outstanding conditions of loan approvals.
• Limited job-related travel may be required.
