Job summary

NVR is seeking a Mortgage Underwriter in Reston, VA to manage daily underwriting for Conventional, FHA, and VA loans. Your precise attention to detail will directly impact customers' ability to secure their dream home.

Responsibilities include underwriting for investor guidelines, routing loans through automated systems, and presenting decisions to the loan committee, while supporting branches and maintaining rapid turnaround times.

Qualifications

• Underwrite loans for compliance with investor and/or agency guidelines.
• Submit loans through an automated underwriting system for a decision.
• Approve or pend loans; present appropriate loans daily to loan committee.
• Assist branches with underwriting questions, scenarios and problems.
• Maintain 24 - 48 hour underwriting turnaround for new loans and re-submitals.
• Operation of office equipment and maintenance of loan filing system.

A MortgageUnderwriter will take responsibility for the daily underwriting processes for our Conventional, FHA and VA loans. Your attention to detail will have a direct impact on our customers' ability to secure a loan for their dream home.

Primary Responsibilities

• Underwrite loans for compliance with investor and/or agency guidelines.
• Submit loans through an automated underwriting system for a decision.
• Approve or pend loans; present appropriate loans daily to loan committee.
• Assist branches with underwriting questions, scenarios and problems.
• Maintain 24 - 48 hour underwriting turnaround for new loans and re-submitals.
• Operation of office equipment and maintenance of loan filing system.

Qualifications

• An approved FHA, DE (Direct Endorsed) or VA SAR/LAPP Underwriter
• At least 5 years of experience underwriting loans
• Excellent customer service skills
• Proven ability to collaborate and problem solve with other mortgage partners
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong planning and organizational skills
