Job summary

German American Bank is seeking a Mortgage Loan Originator to work with potential borrowers, analyze their finances, and identify suitable mortgage products. The role focuses on sales and origination of 1–4 single-family loans, with emphasis on building relationships with referral partners and delivering best-in-class service.

The candidate will pre-qualify borrowers, follow the lending process, and strive to meet production targets while maintaining integrity and trust within the community.

Qualifications

• 1+ years’ experience in real estate, mortgage or sales.
• NMLS license or willingness to obtain.
• Entrepreneurial and business development/sales skills.
• Needs analysis – evaluating income/debts and other financials.
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication.
• Knowledge of conventional, VA, USDA, FHA, FNMA and portfolio underwriting guidelines and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Originate and mortgage 1–4 family loans within guidelines and rates.
• Analyze income, assets and liabilities to identify suitable programs.
• Pre-qualify borrowers for financing.
• Process, underwrite and close loans with required information.
• Cross-sell bank products where appropriate.
