Job description

Position Summary: The Servicing Finance Specialist 2 supports mortgage servicing finance operations through investor reconciliation, cash management, remittance support, reporting, system testing, process execution, and operational improvement activities. This role serves as a key bridge between servicing finance operations, reporting needs, system changes, and process implementation. This professional independently performs and coordinates recurring servicing finance activities, supports critical monthly cycles, assists with investor reporting and reconciliation, and helps turn identified reporting, process, and testing needs into sustainable operational routines. This role does not require direct supervisory authority but may provide training, quality review, knowledge transfer, and subject matter support to other team members.

Essential Functions
  • Perform and support servicing finance activities, including cash management, investor reconciliation, custodial balancing, remittance support, payment exception research, and related operational functions.
  • Independently research, resolve, and elevate servicing exceptions such as non-posted payments, unapplied funds, suspense items, balancing differences, investor discrepancies, and other cash-related issues.
  • Support investor remittance preparation, balancing, review, and reconciliation activities, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established procedures and time-sensitive deadlines (including first-of-month, month-end, and remittance cycles).
  • Review servicing system reports, reconciliation outputs, investor activity, cash movement, and supporting documentation to identify discrepancies, unusual activity, and areas requiring follow-up or escalation.
  • Analyze operational data, report results, variances, and recurring exception patterns; prepare and distribute recurring and ad hoc reporting, including reconciliation support, KPI/KRI metrics, and management reporting materials.
  • Coordinate resolution of investor-related operational issues and exceptions by partnering with internal teams (e.g., Performing Loan Servicing, Collections/Default Servicing, Secondary Market Operations, IT, Controllers) and external stakeholders as needed.
  • Support process improvement, standardization, and documentation efforts by evaluating workflows, identifying gaps or inefficiencies, and developing or maintaining procedures, job aids, checklists, and related materials.
  • Coordinate and execute testing for servicing system changes, vendor releases, workflow updates, and enhancements, including user acceptance testing, regression testing, and post-implementation validation; document results and track defects and resolution.
  • Partner with Project Management, Technology, and other stakeholders to support implementation of system changes, including readiness activities, communication, and workflow updates.
  • Maintain operational controls, audit-ready documentation, and compliance with internal policies, laws, and regulations; assist with audits, regulatory examinations, investor reviews, and related documentation requests.
  • Provide cross-functional support and continuity by tracking action items, coordinating deliverables, identifying risks or issues, and participating in knowledge transfer, cross-training, and backup coverage for critical functions.
  • Understand and adhere to all bank policies, laws and regulations applicable to your role. Complete compliance training, and follow internal processes and controls as required.
  • Report all compliance issues, violations of law or regulations in accordance with the steps defined in bank policies.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.

Qualifications
  • 5-8 years of experience in mortgage servicing investor reporting, servicing finance, servicing accounting, reconciliation, loan operations, secondary market operations required
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Operations Management, Analytics, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant mortgage servicing finance experience required.
  • Experience supporting a mortgage servicing portfolio, preferably within a mid-size or larger servicing portfolio, with experience working in a multi-investor environments, with varying remittance structures, reporting requirements, and servicing guidelines.
  • Demonstrated competency in investor reporting, custodial balancing, remittance support, loan-level reconciliation, payment exceptions, cash activity, or servicing accounting functions.
  • Experience preparing, reviewing, or maintaining recurring operational, reconciliation, investor, or financial reports.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience in the following preferred:
    • Fannie Mae, FHLB/MPF servicing requirements.
    • Mortgage servicing systems, investor reporting platforms, reconciliation tools, reporting applications, or data visualization tools.
    • Participating in software testing, user acceptance testing, system implementations, vendor release validation, or operational change initiatives.
    • Developing procedures, job aids, workflows, reporting packages, checklists, or management reporting materials.
    • Familiarity with Fannie Mae, FHLB/MPF and bank-owned portfolio servicing requirements.
    • Supporting process improvement, operational controls, reporting standardization, or cross-functional project coordination.
    • Working with servicing cash, custodial accounts, investor remittance, exception queues, or payment application research.
