Qualifications

  • 2+ years' experience in residential mortgage lending quality control or 5+ years in processing with decisioning authority.
  • Experience with Encompass LO System and QC software preferred.
  • Knowledge of TILA, ECOA, FCRA and related mortgage lending laws.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts pre-closing audits of mortgage loans to identify deficiencies and ensure compliant documentation.
  • Performs post-closing audits to identify defects and establish remediation plans.
  • Validates data on files, including income, assets, and debt-to-income calculations.
  • Verifies appraisals and data relied upon during loan decisions and order reviews as needed.
  • Supports monthly compliance audits for violations of procedures or laws (ECOA, TILA, FCRA, etc.).
  • Maintains and updates Quality Control Manual per HUD/USDA/VA and GSE guidance.
  • Manages government insuring/guarantee requirements as applicable.

Mortgage Quality Control Analyst – UNMB

The Mortgage Quality Control Analyst supports UNMB's compliance efforts by monitoring mortgage regulations, conducting compliance risk assessments, coordinating audits, and providing guidance on regulatory requirements. This role helps identify and mitigate risks across lending systems, products, and services to ensure adherence to federal and state requirements and maintain the integrity of UNMB's mortgage operations.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts Pre-closing audits of mortgage loans, identifying deficiencies related to agency, investor, or internal requirements, to prevent closing with significant defects such as misrepresentation, inaccurate data or inadequate documentation.

  • Conducts Post closing audits mortgage loans, identifying deficiencies related to agency, investor, regulatory, or internal requirements, to identify defects in the loan manufacturing process from which actionable remediation plans are implemented.

  • Completes independent calculation and analysis of key aspects of mortgage file, including but not limited to, compliance requirements, loan-to-value and debt-to-income ratios, employment/income, assets, credit, liabilities, and collateral.

  • Completes independent unbiased validation and re-verification of data/documentation relied upon during the loan decision, including when necessary, ordering desk and field review appraisals.

  • Evaluates decision made by origination underwriter and completion of other required items attributable to various business units, including but not limited to processing and closing

  • Assist in conducting monthly compliance audits to determine violations of procedure or law in areas such as ECOA and Fair Lending, TILA, FDCPA, FCRA, EFTA, TCPA, UDAAP, SCRA, BSA/AML and OFAC, and GBLA.

  • Responsible for the annual maintenance and updating of Quality Control Manual to align with industry standards and regulatory updates from HUD, USDA, VA, and GSE Agencies, including Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac

  • Manage, perform, or outsource all government insuring/guarantee requirements.


QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and or ability required.



  • Minimum 2 years' recent experience in residential mortgage lending quality control and/or origination underwriting, or 5 or more years' residential mortgage processing experience with current or past credit decisioning authority, is required.

  • Experience with Encompass Loan Origination System and QC Software is preferred.

  • Understanding of regulatory compliance applicable to mortgage lending including TILA, RESPA, ECOA, FCRA and other applicable laws.

  • Strong knowledge of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac guidelines is required along with a firm comprehension of Desktop Underwriter (\"DU\"), and Loan Product Advisor (\"LPA\") Findings Summaries/Feedback Certificates

  • Bachelor's Degree Required

  • Proven ability to influence at all levels within the organization.

  • Organizational skills permitting the effective management of several concurrent projects and priorities.

  • Strong computer literacy and expertise with Microsoft Office suite

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
