Job summary

Busey is seeking a Mortgage Originator to develop new business and originate quality mortgage loans in line with Bank policies. You will work with internal lines of business to cross-sell other products and deepen relationships with customers.

Responsibilities include consulting with borrowers, negotiating terms, preparing applications, and ensuring timely disclosures and underwriting decisions within authority.

Qualifications

  • Requires High School diploma.
  • NMLS registration with SAFE Act compliance is required.
  • Experience in mortgage lending or related operations is preferred.

Position Summary

The Mortgage Originator is responsible for developing new business and originating quality mortgage loans in accordance with established Bank policies and procedures. This position will serve as representative of the Bank and will work with internal lines of business to cross-sell other products and services and deepen relationships.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Consult with Bank customers and non-customers regarding borrowing needs, negotiate terms and conditions, assist in preparing mortgage loan applications, and obtain all necessary documentation from applicants.
  • Make verbal and written commitment on behalf of the Bank which includes rate terms, pre-qualification, mortgage commitment, etc.
  • Complete each loan application and oversee all pre-processing functions in a timely manner to permit the good faith estimate and other required disclosures to be provided to applicants within the requested time period.
  • Analyze financial and credit information necessary to effectively underwrite loans and recommend approval or rejection of mortgage loans within lending authority.
  • Engage in outside opportunities, i.e. calls, open houses, seminars, realtor functions to develop and maintain relationships with realtors, home builders, individual contacts, and other referral sources generating feedback to increase their business relationship with the Bank.
  • Identify customer’s and non-customers’ other financial needs and cross-sell other bank products and services.

Education And Training
  • Requires High School diploma.
  • Previous related mortgage lending or operations experience is preferred.
  • Previous sales experience is preferred.
  • Pursuant to the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (“SAFE Act”), all Mortgage Originators are required to maintain current registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (“NMLS”). If such registration is not active as of the hire date, the Mortgage Originator must immediately attain active registration upon employment. Mortgage Originators who fail to maintain an active and current registration will be unable to originate mortgage loans and may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
  • Requires knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Benefits And Compensation

Salary offered is based on factors, including but not limited to, the job duties, required qualifications and relevant experience, and local market trends. The role may be eligible for bonus or incentives based on company and individual performance.

(Base Salary Range: $53,000-$67,000/annually)
