Mortgage Loan Officer - Hampton Roads, VA

Originates first mortgage loans, promotes the financial institution and lending services to the real estate community, and helps identify and serve the community’s financial needs through home loan counseling, real estate agent seminars, sales meetings, and community activities.

Responsibilities
  • Solicits first mortgage loans by engaging with clients and informing prospective clients of underwriting guidelines and regulations.
  • Assists applicants in completing applications and disclosures.
  • Prepares loan applications, initial disclosures, and Loan Estimates promptly.
  • Enters data into the computer system and orders credit reports and other necessary items.
  • Answers calls, schedules appointments, and maintains communication with borrowers and agents.
  • Communicates approvals or denials clearly to borrowers and agents.
  • Responds to inquiries about loan status and maintains proper documentation.
  • Distributes marketing materials and participates in local business development activities.
  • Ensures compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and other policies.
Qualifications
  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two to four years of mortgage or related sales experience.
  • Knowledge of real estate documentation, policies, and compliance.
  • Proficiency with mortgage processing and underwriting systems.
