Overview

This is a full‑time, commission‑based career opportunity based out of our Stony Point location in Richmond, VA. The role involves soliciting first mortgages through contacts with realtors, builders, and developers, and working with customers and prospective customers to assist them in identifying and securing a mortgage loan that is appropriate for their individual financial circumstances and designed to help them achieve their financial goals, including home ownership.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and expand referral sources to solicit first mortgages.
  • Maintain regular contact with realtors in their offices and on site at open house events, and meet with builders on job sites to discuss lending options.
  • Seek opportunities to meet with developers and participate in building and trade shows, mixers related to real estate, and other events to build and forge new relationships.
  • Collect and analyze applicants’ financial information at the organization’s branch locations to assess eligibility and qualify for a particular loan.
  • Interview applicants and gather required information, including income, assets, investments, debt, credit history, prior bankruptcies, judgments, liens, and property characteristics.
  • Identify customer needs in conjunction with their financial situation, evaluate those needs relative to available products, and recommend the financial products that best meet those needs, advising on risks and benefits.
  • Recommend terms and conditions of mortgage loans.
  • Engage in customer‑specific persuasive sales activity to encourage potential customers to do business with the company and cross‑promote other services and financial products to outside referral sources.
  • Obtain and analyze pertinent financial and credit data for originated loans, ensure loan conformity with terms, and follow up with customers via telephone and email.
  • Complete paperwork related to originated loans and prepare materials to support loan activities.
  • Attend company meetings as necessary and ensure loan originations comply with regulatory requirements and documentation standards.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One or more years of recent residential mortgage lending experience, including local market experience; or participation in the Fulton Mortgage Company Associate Mortgage Loan Officer Program may be accepted in lieu of the one‑year requirement.
  • One or more years of proven ability to develop referral sources from contacts and relationships outside the organization.
Other Duties as Assigned by Manager

This role may perform other job duties as assigned by the manager. Each employee is accountable for reading, understanding, and acting on all Company‑assigned compliance programs, regulations, and policies, ensuring compliance training is completed by due dates, identifying compliance risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, and escalating risks to appropriate management levels.
