CTG is seeking to fill a Mortgage Closing Specialist I opening for our client in Buffalo, NY.
Location: Remote
Duration: 6 months with potential for conversion to direct employment with the client
Overview
The Mortgage Closing Specialist I acts as the liaison responsible for collecting and verifying data necessary for the issuance of Closing Disclosures (CD). This role collaborates with all parties involved in the closing process to ensure transactions are completed accurately and on time.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assign and manage pipeline reporting for title reviewers
- Review pipeline reports and manage the title review mailbox
- Maintain effective communication with all internal and external parties involved in closing transactions
- Obtain and verify closing-related documentation such as payoffs, tax, title, and insurance information
- Review loan files to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations
- Complete verbal verifications of employment for income-qualified borrowers
- Monitor and manage rate lock and document expirations
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of all data submitted for CD issuance
- Collaborate with settlement agents to collect required fee and contact information
- Monitor and adjust timelines to meet target closing dates, providing proactive communication when changes are needed
- Adhere to compliance and operational risk controls
- Support M&T internal control standards and audit requirements
- Promote an inclusive environment reflective of the M&T Bank brand
- Perform additional related duties as assigned
Scope Of Responsibilities
This position requires strong interaction with both internal teams and external stakeholders including customers, settlement agents, and service providers.
Education And Experience Required
- Associate’s degree with a minimum of 1 year of business experience, or
- Minimum of 1 year combined Closing and customer service experience, or
- In lieu of a degree, a combination of 3 years higher education and/or work experience including a minimum of 1 year business or mortgage closing/customer service experience
- Strong proficiency with PCs and standard office software
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective time management and prioritization abilities
- Strong communication skills—both written and verbal
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Dependable, adaptable, and able to make informed decisions
Education And Experience Preferred
- Prior mortgage closing experience at a lender, title company, or settlement agency
- Familiarity with department-specific software and mortgage industry regulations
- Working knowledge of product, investor, and compliance requirements
Skill Set 1: Organized and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Skill Set 2: Experienced in preparing CDs and closing documents with a strong attention to detail
Skill Set 3: Willingness to work overtime during high-volume periods
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $25.00 to $28.00 per hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefit package is also offered.
