Job summary
Scripps in Bakersfield, California seeks a meteorologist to prepare and deliver daily weathercasts using weather data and graphics systems across TV, radio and the Internet.
You will report live from event sites, update viewers on urgent weather, and produce weather content for multiple platforms on tight deadlines.
Required: a Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology (preferred), 3+ years in the field, and a valid driver’s license with insurance coverage.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology preferred
- Generally 3+ years experience in related field preferred
- Valid driver’s license with ability to provide proof of insurance with company-required limits
Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver daily weathercasts utilizing all available weather data and graphics computers.
- Prepare and deliver urgent weather updates interrupting regular programming as necessary.
- Prepare and deliver weather materials over TV, Radio and Internet.
- Assist management in evaluations of potential new weather data gathering and presentation computers.
- Receive assignments or evaluate news leads to develop story ideas.
- Report live from event sites or mobile broadcast unit.
