Job summary

Kalamazoo Public Schools is seeking a Food Service Site Supervisor for Valley Center School, Monday through Friday, 6:30am–12:30pm. The role supports the administration of the National School Lunch Program, the National School Breakfast Program and the After School Snack Program at a satellite elementary school.

Responsibilities include preparing meals, supervising staff, managing supplies, reviewing records, handling deposits, ensuring USDA and health rules compliance, and delivering quality

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or accredited equivalency.
• Ability to read, write, follow verbal and written instructions; basic math.
• Strong knowledge of safety and sanitation in food service operations.
• Minimum of two years in school food service; supervisory experience desirable.
• Must complete Food Service Basics, Sanitation and Safety and Communications classes within two years; must be certified as Person in Charge.

Responsibilities

• Implements standardized menu by preparing food and ordering supplies.
• Adheres to sanitation and safety practices per state, county, and district guidelines.
• Plans schedules, assigns work, and trains supervising staff.
• Ensures compliance with National School Lunch, Breakfast and After School Snack Programs and health department rules.
• Communicates concerns and policies to the Director of Food Services and principals.
• Merchandises meals attractively and handles customer inquiries promptly.
• Prepares meal components and ala carte items for service; maintains accurate account balances with parents and school administration.
• Completes required Food Service Department reports in a timely manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Building Principal or the Director of Food Services.
